Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been honored with the Order of the Star of Ghana at the 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony held in Accra on Monday December 30, 2024.
The Award presented by President Akufo- Addo to him recognizes his exceptional leadership, dedication and outstanding contributions to national development.
Dr. Bawumia during the awards ceremony was praised for spearheading transformative digitalization initiatives.
The Order of the Star of Ghana is the highest National Honours amongst the five categories.
Dr. Bawumia was honored together with other Members of Parliament, Security personnel, public servants and creative artists among other people who made outstanding contributions to the development of the country.
Some of the awardees are; Chief of Staff, Frema Opare, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South, Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Francis Asenso- Boakye, Minister for Roads and Highways, Dr. George Akuffo- Dampare, Inspector General of Police.
Others include;
Nana Kwasi Agyekum Dwamena – Public Service, Prof. Paul Kwame Nyame –
Health/Public Service, Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay – Real Estate/Construction, Bright Appiah – Civil Society/Child Advocacy, Eric Ebo Acquah – Real Estate/Landscaping.
Members of parliaments who also received awards are: Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Kweku Ofori Asiamah, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Ambrose Dery, Dominic Nitiwul, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
Members of the creative arts sector who were awarded include; Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante.
