Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has shared his joy over the remarkable recovery of Priscilla, a four-year-old cured leper he sponsored for medical treatment.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia described Priscilla’s visit as his “best Christmas gift.”
The young girl, who was previously at the Weija Leprosarium, now walks with a prosthetic leg following life-changing medical care in Italy for her amputated limb sponsored by the Vice President.
“I got my best Christmas gift yesterday when Priscilla returned to Ghana and paid me a visit at home to thank me and show that she can now walk with her new leg. To God be the glory,” his post read.
Priscilla, abandoned by her parents at birth due to her condition, has been cared for by Father Andrew Campbell at the Weija Leprosarium.
Following several unsuccessful attempts to treat her severely damaged legs, one of her limbs was eventually amputated in Ghana.
During one of his routine visits to the Weija Leprosarium as a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, Dr. Bawumia met Priscilla.
She has since spent five months undergoing treatment and recovery.
