The Bank of Ghana has denied claims being made on social media about a new 1% cyber security levy to be introduced in the near future.
The news which was shared by news outlets on social media has generated a ton of controversy on the internet.
In a post spotted on social media, the Bank reportedly introduced the levy on account of the increasing threats to cyber security in Ghana and other countries. “Bank of Ghana set to introduce 1% cybersecurity levy on all banking transactions. The move comes in the face of increased cybersecurity risks in the country and across the world.”
However, the official X page of the Bank Of Ghana denied the claims made by tweeps regarding the matter. The post which had the previous post positioned in the background, said “Fake; please disregard.”
