The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has urged political stakeholders and citizens to approach the outcome of the 2024 general elections with humility, highlighting the importance of unity and national development.
His call comes following a decisive victory by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by former President John Dramani Mahama, who returned to the presidency with a commanding parliamentary majority.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), headed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its presidential candidate, faced significant defeat, losing both the presidency and several parliamentary seats.
In his Christmas and New Year message to the nation, Speaker Bagbin reflected on the challenges Ghana has encountered in governance, the economy, and democratic processes. He expressed optimism that these experiences will serve as valuable lessons for better governance and performance in 2025.
He further called on all Ghanaians to prioritize national unity, stressing that collaboration and solidarity are crucial for the country’s post-election progress.
