Ghana’s national team coach, Otto Addo, revealed that defender Baba Rahman declined a call-up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Addo attributed Rahman’s decision to the harsh criticism and personal attacks the player faced during previous appearances. He acknowledged Rahman’s talent but expressed disappointment that personal attacks, rather than constructive criticism, drove the player away.
This isn’t the first time Rahman has faced negativity. During Ghana’s final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in September 2023, fans booed him at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Rahman, a veteran of 50 international appearances, debuted for the Black Stars in 2013. Despite his experience, the lingering negativity appears to have taken a toll.
