B.A United opposes truncation of league season due to Covid-19

Brong Ahafo United Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Major Kwame Baah, says the 2019/20 Division One League should continue despite calls for the season to be abrogated due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Wednesday 29 April, 2020 held a meeting with the clubs to deliberate on the future of the season.

Happy Sports understands that majority of the clubs in Zone A called for the FA to cancel the 2019/20 football season. Only three clubs; B. A United, Tamale United and Steadfast were the only clubs who opposed the decision.

According to the CEO of B.A United, the football season has not been completed for the past three seasons which is not good for Ghana football.

“This is not about our position on the league table. If there is any opportunity for us to continue the league then we should”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

B.A United were placed first on the league log before the suspension of the league and Major Kwame Baah says the decision to continue the league is not about promotion.

“This is not about our position on the league table. If there is any opportunity for us to continue the league then we should. It’s been three years that we have never finished a season”.

“We were not given any opportunity for us to explain whether the league should continue or not. The Majority decided that we shouldn’t play the league”, he added.

He congratulated GFA President, Kurt Okraku on seeking the idea of the clubs amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I will congratulate Kurt Okraku for engaging the clubs to talk about the suspension of the league due to the Covid-19”.
