Ayew brothers score on league restart

The Ayew brothers, Andre and Jordan continued with their impressive season for their respective clubs this weekend after the leagues restarted amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Andre Ayew produced a masterclass to help Swansea City pick an important away win against Middlesborough on Saturday with a goal and two assists.

Ayew scored his 13th goal of the season for Swansea City in that 3-0 win.

The Black Stars captain continued from where he left off after the break and has now bagged in 13 goals in 36 appearances this season.

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper praised Andre Ayew for his performance against Middlesbrough after the game.

“Rhian looked a real threat, got his two goals and he’s disappointed he didn’t have three,” said the Swans boss. He’s a really good player, but we are a team that likes to play as a team.

“I thought Aldo was equally a threat down the right-hand side in the first half, and Andre was doing what he does week in and week out”.

Andre Ayew currently holds the record as the Ghanaian with the most goals in Europe across the various leagues in the 2019/20 season.

Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew scored his ninth goal of the campaign to become Ghana’s leading top scorer in the Premier League.

Jordan scored in his side 2-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

The goal took him above former Leeds striker Tony Yeboah as Ghana’s leading scorer in the Premier League with 25 goals over all.

The 28-year-old is in contention for Crystal Palace best player of the season due to his fine form this season.
