Augustine Arhinful urges Ghana FA to convince Salisu, Lamptey to play for Black Stars

Former Black Stars striker Augustine Arhinful, says the Ghana Football Association (GFA), must make an attempt to get Mohammed Salisu of Southampton and Tariq Lamptey of Brighton to play for the senior national team.

According to him, the Black Stars must be represented by Ghanaians playing very well wherever they are across the globe.

Speaking in an interview on Happy Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware he said: “We need to approach Mohammed Salisu to come and play for us, we need him to come. Let’s contact Samuel Kuffuor, Tony Baffour to do this job for us.

“Let them go there and speak with him. In defense, we got a problem. We need our best players out there to come and represent us. He is a solid defender and a good passer of the ball.

Augustine Arhinful recommended Tariq Lamptey of Brighton who is eligible to play for the Black Stars despite representing England at the youth level.

“We need Tariq Lamptey of Brighton. He is also an option for us at the right-back. I would have told him that if he is looking to play for England there isn’t a chance at national level so he should consider Ghana, which will help him in his CV. If it is the father you must get through to him then let’s do it”.

“During CK Akonnor’s time he didn’t honor the call-up, Coach Milovan Rajevac’s time to he hasn’t turn
We are looking for results and we get these players and they perform the coach will be happy and Ghanaians will also be happy”, he added.

Mohammed Salisu has turn down opportunities to represent the Black Stars to the Black Stars during CK stating he wasn’t ready for the national team.
