The Auditor-General of Ghana, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, has announced the commencement of a nationwide payroll audit.
This extensive review will encompass all entities listed on the Controller and Accountant-General’s payroll system, including subvented organizations.
According to statement from the Auditor-General’s Office, the audit will cover payroll records spanning January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, for Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and other eligible bodies.
As part of this initiative, a comprehensive headcount of government-paid employees will be conducted.
The statement emphasized the need for institutions involved in the exercise to grant auditors full and unhindered access to all relevant documentation.
This includes both physical and electronic records to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the audit process.
