Former District Chief Executive of Agona East, Dr. Martin Luther Obeng has said former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who worked under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments, have never endorsed former President John Dramani Mahama ahead of the party’s flag beer ship election and God forbid it that he will compromise his support for Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben Show when asked by the host whether did denounced his support for Bagbin “God forbid it, one thing everyone knows about me is that I’m not a hypocrite, god forbid.”
“God forbid what?” the host, Kwame Afrifa asked.
“God forbid, what you just said, God forbid that I Martin Luther will be ungrateful or denounce someone. My name doesn’t include a ‘J’, I’m not Judas neither am I Thomas to be doubtful.”
He also denied allegation that the former MMDCEs call on the former president to contest in a communiqué after their meeting.
“There’s no MMDCE’s that has gone to set up a communiqué to support former president John Mahama. Whoever says that is a blatant liar, wherever you see that is a lie, because me Martin Luther I was there, we didn’t say anything like that.”
Last Saturday in Accra on, 12th May 2018, the MMDCEs appointed under successive NDC governments, appealed to Mr Mahama to make an early declaration about his political intentions and also make himself available to serve the party and the nation.
