AU Chairperson calls for calm amid violent protest in Kenya

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, has voiced serious concern over the recent violence in Kenya resulting from public protests, which have caused casualties and property damage.

In a statement released by the Union on June 25, 2024, the Chairperson called for all parties involved to remain calm and avoid further violence.

He also urged national stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the issues that sparked the protests, prioritizing Kenya’s best interests.

H.E. Mahamat reaffirmed the African Union’s full solidarity with the Government and People of Kenya, encouraging them to uphold peace, security, and stability in the nation.
