Atubiga quits NDC race, supports Mahama

Flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress  (NDC), Stephen Atubiga, has redrawn from the flagbearership.

According to him, his decision to quit from the NDC flagbearer race and support the candidature of former President John Mahama, comes on the back of broader consultation and advised from within the NDC.

Atubiga made this known when it was his turn to submit his nomination forms at the Party headquarters in Accra Tuesday  December 18, 2018.

The NDC is set to elect a presidential candidate on January 26, 2019 after an intervention by its council of elders led to an extension in the date of picking and submitting forms as well as the contest itself.

The vetting of the aspirants who have successfully submitted their nomination forms will be on the 21st and 22nd of December, 2018, with balloting to follow immediately.

Any appeals from the aspirants will be permitted between the 22nd and 24th of December, 2018.
