Attorney-General vows to Appeal ruling on ambulance trial

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame has announced plans to appeal the Court of Appeal’s decision in the ambulance trial involving Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and two others.

On July 30, 2024, the Court of Appeal, in a 2:1 decision, overturned a previous directive requiring Dr. Forson to present his defense and supported his appeal of no case.

In response, the Office of the Attorney-General has released a statement criticizing the court’s decision as harmful to the fight against impunity and the rule of law, labeling it as unfair to the nation.

The Attorney-General pledged to quickly appeal the ruling to counteract its effects and address what he described as an erroneous decision by the Court of Appeal.

“The Office of the Attorney-General considers the decision of the Court of Appeal grossly unfair to the nation and enimical to the fight against impunity and abuse in public office. The Office will promptly file and appeal in order to erase this erroneous decision in the Court of Appeal”, the statement concluded.
