The Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has filed an appeal against the acquittal of former Deputy Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson and businessman Richard Jakpa.
The appeal reportedly challenges the Court of Appeal’s decision to discharge them in the ambulance procurement case, arguing that the ruling was flawed and led to a miscarriage of justice.
The notice of appeal said that the Court “failed to give due regard to the fact that whether a ‘prima facie case’ has been made by the prosecution is the true standard required in assessing whether the prosecution has made a case for the accused persons to answer.
The AG is seeking to overturn the acquittal, aiming for the accused to continue their defense at the High Court.
