Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has called for bipartisan support in Parliament to push forward the 2025 budget, which he believes will lay the groundwork for Ghana’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Post-Budget Workshop, Dr. Forson highlighted the pressing need for Parliament to approve the proposed initiatives and legislative measures embedded in the budget.

He urged his colleagues to look beyond party lines and focus on the collective goal of securing Ghana’s economic future.

“This budget represents our commitment to fiscal discipline, sustainable growth, and job creation”.

Dr. Forson emphasized, “I appeal to this esteemed House to support the proposed revenue and expenditure measures to meet our fiscal objectives and targets.”

“We have outlined a number of revenue and expenditure measures in the 2025 budget to support the achievement of our fiscal objectives and targets. And we would like to call on this esteemed House, particularly my colleagues, the Members of Parliament, to support these measures and the passage of the various legislations that will operationalise the measures as soon as possible.”

Additionally, Dr. Forson mentioned some initiatives the government intends to roll out in the 2025 budget.

“Some initiatives that we have proposed for implementation in this budget are as follows: we are proposing to roll out the 24-hour economy policy to support inclusive growth and job creation. We also propose to roll out the GH¢10 billion Big Push policy beginning this year”.

“We are proposing the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board to support foreign exchange inflows and gold reserve accumulation to benefit our dear country.”
