Minority leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, has raised alarm about the weakening state of democracy in the country, citing a significant loss of interest among Ghanaians in democratic values.
He has therefore appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his deputy, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to initiate reforms in their governance style.
“Our country is not sitting well in some of the things we do and just like Parliament has made reforms, I call on H. E the president and vice president to reform their governance because Ghanaians are fast losing hope in our democracy and we can’t allow this to happen”he said.
He made this plea during the annual leaders’ media briefing with the Parliamentary Press Corps on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024.
The briefing aimed to update the media on forthcoming meeting agendas and associated issues.
Through this avenue, he underscored the pressing necessity for the Akufo Addo administration to implement these reforms urgently. Such actions, he emphasized, are pivotal in rebuilding trust among Ghanaians and fostering the advancement of the nation’s democracy.
