Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey admits the players “suffered and found it “difficult” sticking to social distancing rules during their first training session at the weekend.
The team regrouped as the lockdown was eased for teams to start training in Spain last week.
However, social distancing guidelines remain in full force amid the coronavirus outbreak as the La Liga teams shape up for the return of football.
And Partey, who has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, admits the difficulties in adhering to the health rules.
‘We suffered a bit at first because we’re not used to training and keeping a distance, but we’ll get used to it,” he said after the team’s training session.
‘We’re used to being on vacation, training and playing with friends, but we could only stay at home, so it’s been difficult.
‘Because of the situation though, we’ve had to get used to it. We had to keep training at home as much as we could.
‘The problem is that we haven’t been able to touch the ball and play in groups, but we know we have to move little by little towards normality.’
Spain is one of the worst hit European countries with over 220,000 cases and 26,000 deaths so far.
