Asuogyaman MP slams opponent over visa scandal

Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency, Thomas Nyarko Ampem has criticized his opponent, Pius Enam Hadzide, for promising to take constituents to the 2026 World Cup if elected, citing a history of visa fraud.

Addressing the media at a press conference at Akosombo lorry station in the Eastern Region, he condemned Hadzide’s admission to facilitating fraudulent visas for individuals to travel to Australia in 2018, which brought international mockery and ridicule. He warned that Hadzide’s promise to repeat similar actions if elected puts the constituency’s reputation at risk.

The legislature also highlighted Hadzide’s controversial past, including involvement in visa scandals and abandoned youth resource centres.

He emphasized that the people of Asuogyaman deserve better than a leader with questionable integrity and a history of deceit.

In contrast, Mr. Ampem emphasized his commitment to the constituency’s growth and urged constituents to reject Hadzide’s candidacy, warning that his actions could lead to illegal migration and deportation.

The Deputy Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Malik Basintale, has also called for Hadzide’s immediate removal as CEO of the National Youth Authority, stating that his comments are not befitting of a leader.
