Ashanti Regional 1st Vice-chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Nsenkyire has shown appreciation to persons who wish to vie for party positions, parliamentary and presidential primaries for respecting their (party) directives ahead of their delegates conference.

According to him, the removal of campaign billboards in the Ashanti region is a good sign and shows a high level of respect to the party.

The NPP on December 10, issued a directive indicating that ‘no billboards and or sign boards, banners or any kind of outdoor signage with the images and or names of individual members, with or without the consent of the individual, shall be acceptable.

This, they say, applies to the area within the Greater Kumasi Metropolis. “All such displays, if put up already, should be removed,” it stated.

Reacting to these steps taken by some of these persons, Kwabena Nsenkyire told Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, “I will applaud the aspirants who want to contest for party positions and presidential flagbearership for pulling down their billboards and respecting the party’s directives.”

The politician revealed he has gone on a monitoring campaign around the region and seen a lot of such people take down their billboards in a timely fashion to his amazement.

Reiterating that the directive was issued by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party, he added, “anyone who refuses to pull down their billboards do so at their own detriment.”
