Asante Kotoko set for Baba Yara Sports Stadium return

Asante Kotoko are set to return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the remainder of the Ghana Premier League season, following a directive from the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The Porcupine Warriors had to vacate their traditional home ground in September after the NSA closed the facility for maintenance. The decision was prompted by the uneven state of the pitch and its inability to meet CAF’s Category 3 standards during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola.

The stadium’s closure was aimed at preparing it for Ghana’s upcoming international matches. However, the Black Stars relocated to Accra to complete the rest of their AFCON qualifiers.

Kotoko, on the other hand, have been playing their home games this season at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. Over six league matches at Len Clay, they have recorded three wins, two losses, and a draw.

The team’s return to Baba Yara Stadium is expected to reinvigorate their campaign, especially with a highly anticipated clash against archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak on the horizon.

Before that showdown, Kotoko will have the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with their home turf this weekend when they face Future Stars in the MTN FA Cup.
