Asante Kotoko have parted ways with coach Maxwell Konadu following their defeat to Great Olympics on Thursday.
Kotoko have won just a game in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, and suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Thursday after a 1-0 loss to the Dade Boys.
Assistant coach Johnson Smith takes over in the interim.
“Management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club wishes to inform the general public that it has decided to part ways with Coach Maxwell Konadu as its Head Coach with immediate effect. Coach Johnson Smith has been appointed to lead the team in the interim,” the club wrote Twitter.
Maxwell Konadu was appointed for a second stint in 2019 following the sacking of Norwegian Kjetil Zachariassen.
He becomes the fourth coach under the tenure of Dr Kwame Kyei to be sacked.
He joins Steve Pollack, C.K AKonnor, and Kjetil Zachariassen as the list of casualties at the Kumasi based club in the last two years.
