Newly appointed coach of Ghanaian Premier League outfit, Asante Kotoko, Prosper Nartey Ogum says he is overwhelmed and excited about his second stint with the Porcupine Warriors.
Prosper Narteh Ogum, who had been unattached after leaving Asante Kotoko, has returned to the club alongside legendary James Kwasi Appiah, he will oversee the player recruitment process in preparation for the upcoming season.
He replaces, Abdul Gazale, the assistant coach, who was named as the interim coach after the sacking of Burkinabe trainer, Seydou Zerbo, who was brought in as Ogum’s replacement before the commencement of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Zerbo was relieved of his duties mid-season following a loss to Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Prosper Nartey Ogum, who was officially unveiled today August 8 2023 in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports stadium, said,” I’m overly excited and overwhelmed about this opportunity and nothing else comes close, probably the day I got married, but I have to say that I am excited to be here again”.
“My first year is to put together a very formidable team that can compete both domestically and internationally. However, you can’t be at Kotoko and not think of bringing success.”
Ogum guided the team to victory in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, clinching the league title in his debut season. However, he was unexpectedly dismissed despite signing a two-year contract with the club.
As part of assuming his role as gaffer for the Kumasi-based club, he will be assisted by David Ocloo who was part of his backroom staff during his first stint.
With the new 2023/24 season scheduled to kick off in September, Asante Kotoko will be hoping to punch above their weights after placing fourth last season.
