Managing Editor of The Custodian newspaper, Awudu Mahama has said that while he welcomes the news of five suspects found in the killing of the Mfantseman MP, he cautions the police to do a ‘thorough’ job to make sure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.

The Ghana Police Service announced that it has arrested five persons in connection with the murder of the MP for Mfantseman, Ekow Quansah Hayford.

Commenting on this development on the ‘Editor’s Take’ segment of the Happy Morning Show, Awudu Mahama noted: “It is good to note that about five people have been arrested. We hope that they will not be arrested and eventually when it comes to the critical stage they will be released. It should be a thorough job. I hope we will get the actual people who did the atrocious things”.

He furthered that issues of national security should not be made political as it concerns all Ghanaians.

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Ekow Kwansah Hayford was shot dead by unknown assailants while returning from a campaign tour on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road in the Central Region at about 1am on Friday, October 9, 2020.

However, the police have assured that investigations are underway as five suspects have been arrested to assist with the investigations.

Although details of the five suspects remain scanty, available information indicates that there is a manhunt for other suspects in connection with the crime.
