Ampem Darkoa Ladies forward, Mary Amponsah, has disclosed the secret behind her impressive form after leading her side to secure the 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies secured their fourth women’s PL title after defeating Hasaacas Ladies 5-3 via penalty shootouts after a 1-1 stalemate in an epic final earlier today at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Mary Amponsah, who had been fantastic for Ampem Darkoa Ladies this season, emerged top goal scorer of the Women’s PL with 16 goals.
Speaking in an interview with Happy FM, Mary said she was elated to have not only won the Women’s PL title but also the golden boot award. She attributed her impressive form to consistent hardwork and prayers.
“Training hard, and obeying my coaches as well as my mates has been the key to my impressive goal-scoring streak this season. I watch lots of football matches and also have a personal trainer with whom I train for free. She(personal trainer) decided to help me after discovering my potential,” she shared.
“Before the start of the season, I prayed to the lord for success and gladly we won the PL title. We will have to beef up our squad going to the WAFU Championship and we are very focused to achieving the ultimate,” she added.
Mary Amponsah will be hoping to lead Ampem Darkoa Ladies when they represent Ghana in the upcoming WAFU Zone B Championship as they set sights on a spot in the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
