Amerado discloses why he went into music

Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, Amerado, has revealed his inspiration for starting his music career.

Unlike other artistes, he noted that he did music to survive, as his family was going through tough times.

Speaking to Akua Sika on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Evening Drive, he said, “The basis of me doing music was about my family. From the beginning I was my mother’s hope. I didn’t do music because I wanted to be famous. I did it for survival. That was my only way because there was no one coming to help me or my family”.

According to him, growing up he witnessed people insulting and looking down on his my mother because she didn’t have money.

He added that due to his past experiences, he is always humbled whenever people talk about him and his music.

“My mother slept hungry on some days and what drives me crazy sometimes is that I have some cult following and these people never left my back irrespective of what happened. Aside my family (blood), the army lions as I call them and my fan base have always pulled through for me. I don’t care the number whether five or six but, they’re always there and I appreciate them because they’re part of my journey and where I am today,” he emphasized.

The sensational rapper and singer mentioned that these are some of the reasons he can’t let himself down.

“So no matter how many times I fall, I’ll always rise. I’ve also realized that sometimes you don’t need a helper to lift you, you need yourself to rise,” he added.
