The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has made a bold commitment to tackle corruption head-on in his next administration. Citing a disturbing Afrobarometer report revealing widespread distrust among Ghanaians due to rampant corruption, Mahama pledged that all officials appointed to his government will declare their assets within 30 days of taking office.

This measure, Mahama emphasized will promote transparency and accountability, ensuring that officials serve the nation’s interests rather than personal gain. By implementing this initiative, Mahama aims to restore public trust and demonstrate his administration’s resolve to combat corruption.

“Our commitment is to review and enforce the asset declaration regime to promote transparency and combat corruption, and with this regard I will require all members of my administration to declare their assets within 30 days in office”, he said.

He cited that his commitment reflects a response to growing demands from Ghanaians for accountability and decisive action against corruption. By tackling this pervasive issue, Mahama seeks to revitalize the country’s democratic institutions and promote economic growth.
