Experience football administrator, Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, has rallied his support behind former GFA Vice President, Fred Papoe, to be the next GFA president.
The GFA presidency became vacant after its former president Kwesi Nyantakyi resigned due to allegations of misconduct and corruption when he was seen in a video accepting money and making alleged corrupt deals.
An allegation he was found guilty of by FIFA’s adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee and banned for life from all footballing related activities.
Mr Nyantakyi has since appealed the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS.
Former GFA Vice Presidents Fred Pappoe and George Afriyie together with former EXCO (Executive Committee) member Wilfred Osei Palmer and founder of Kumasi based King Faisal have all expressed interest in replacing their former boss as the next GFA president.
In an interview with Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’, Alhaji Bamed who is a former management member of Asante Kotoko opined that, George Afriyie, Fred Papoe and Wilfred Osei Palmer all have the ability to be the president of GFA.
“George Afriyie, Fred Pappoe and Osei Kweku Palmer all have the pedigree to run the football association,”he stated
He however, backed the candidature of director of Accra Great Olympics,Fred Pappoe, describing him as being more experienced and very knowledgeable in the affairs of Ghana football.
“Among the three, I will choose Fred Pappoe. He has more experience and he is very knowledge . He is very realistic and has been in the system for long. He will take Ghana football to the promise land,” he added.
The Normalization Committee as part of its task is required to organize fresh elections to elect the next leadership of the football association.
