The Elected speaker of the 9th Parliament, Alban Bagbin has become the second speaker elected and sworn into office for a second term.
Alban Bagbin’s record equals the record of the first speaker of Parliament under the 4th Republic the late justice Daniel Francis Annan.
All other past speakers of Parliament under the 4th Republic served one term with the exception of the late Justice Annan who became the speaker from January 7, 1993 to January 6, 1997 and from January 7, 1997 to January 6, 2001.
On the other hand, Alban Bagbin has also set a record of being part of all parliaments of Ghana since January 7, 1993 both as MP and speaker of Parliament.
He became a member of Parliament on January 7, 1993 for the Nadowli Constituency.
Alban served his first term as speaker of Parliament from January 7, 2021 and is expected to serve in the 9th Parliament after being elected and sworn into office as speaker of Parliament.
