The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr. Akwasi Agyeman has been honoured by the Diaspora African Forum (DAF) Bridge Builders Award 2024 during a prestigious ceremony held at the African Regent Hotel.
The event which took place on Friday, March 1st, 2024, was geared at celebrating leaders dedicated to bridging the gap between Africa and the diaspora.
The Bridge Builders Award is a distinguished recognition bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to fostering connections and collaboration between Africa and the African Diaspora.
This year, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman stood among seven esteemed honorees acknowledged for their relentless efforts in advancing this mission.
Alongside notable figures such as former Ghanaian President H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mr. Agyeman was commended for his pivotal role in promoting tourism and enhancing cultural exchange between Africa and its diasporic communities.
The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) has a rich tradition of recognizing exceptional leaders who champion the cause of unity and collaboration across continents.
Previous recipients of this prestigious award include iconic figures such as Xernona Clayton, H.E. Joyce Banda, H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and Rev Jesse Jackson, among others.
In her remarks, the Founder and Head of Mission for DAF, H.E. Dr. Erieka Bennett, and Dr. Toni Luck, Co-founder of DAF, expressed profound pride in honouring the remarkable achievements of Mr. Akwasi Agyeman and his fellow awardees.
They emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of global unity and solidarity encapsulated in the motto, “We are the world.”
