The Spokesperson for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Frank Agyekum has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections partly to President Akufo-Addo’s leadership.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured victory over the NPP by a margin of over 1.6 million votes.

According to Mr. Agyekum, widespread public dissatisfaction with the party, compounded by perceived arrogance from some members, alienated many supporters.

He also pointed to the imposition of unpopular candidates in various constituencies as a key factor contributing to the significant electoral loss, noting that these challenges emerged during President Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

Additionally, Mr. Agyekum criticised the selection process for both presidential and parliamentary candidates, describing the choices as suboptimal and a contributory factor to the party’s defeat.
