Akufo-Addo hosts pre-AFCON mini concert and Dinner for Black Stars

A mini concert and dinner were hosted by Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, for the Black Stars on January 9, 2024, as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The head of state engaged with the final squad of 27 players during a private dinner before their departure to Ivory Coast.

The event, attended by Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku, saw President Akufo-Addo motivating the players to secure Ghana’s fifth Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

The dinner featured a special performance by Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall, and reggae artist Stonebwoy, providing entertainment for both players and the technical team.

During the dinner, Andre Ayew, representing the team, presented a jersey signed by all the players to President Akufo-Addo.

Ghana, placed in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique, is set to kick off its 2023 AFCON campaign with a match against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, at 20:00 GMT.
