The Member of Parliament of Banda and deputy minority chief whip, Ahmed Ibrahim has said that the NPP Parliamentary caucus should maintain Afenyo Markin as their minority leader in the 9th Parliament.
According to him, Afenyo Markin is a born opposition leader and lacks the qualities to act as majority leader.
“If you access him on his position as majority leader, he will fall below average.
“Technically, i could see that the NPP Parliamentary caucus will not face challenges in selecting a leader because they have a born opposition leader. Afenyo Markin is very good at opposition but he is not good at government and if you want to use his majority leadership to mark him, you may give him below average”.
He added that Afenyo Markin has certain technical expertise in him that will qualifies him to be a vibrant minority leader who can put the NDC majority on it toes in the 9th Parliament.
The Banda legislature criticized Afenyo Markin for performing so badly as majority leader stating that he is very good at attacking rather than defending.
