The outgoing Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has alleged that discussions about the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) next flagbearer have already begun, even before President-elect John Mahama is sworn in to complete his four-year term.
According to Afenyo-Markin, internal tensions have surfaced within the NDC, with some Members of Parliament reportedly engaging in these discussions in parliament.
In an interview, Afenyo-Markin stated that he would not reveal the names of the MPs involved in these conversations.
“Already in Parliament on Monday, we saw a few things. In Parliament, we see things with our own eyes and hear things. Their internal struggle for leadership has started, they have already begun their campaign for who will succeed Mahama”, he said.
He further expressed confidence that the public would soon realize the true character of the NDC and might come to regret granting them power in the recently concluded general election.
