Accra Lions’ head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has expressed his disappointment following his team’s defeat to Asante Kotoko on Monday.
The Accra-based club hosted the Porcupine Warriors at the Accra Sports Stadium in a highly anticipated match, which marked the fourth round of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. Asante Kotoko managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory with a goal scored in added time of the second half.
During a post-match interview, Coach Ibrahim Tanko described the result as agonizing. He believed that a draw would have been a fair outcome considering the quality of play displayed by both teams.
“It’s an incredibly painful defeat, primarily due to a lapse in concentration. I genuinely believe that a draw would have been a more equitable result, given the excellent performance by both sides. But that’s football for you; a momentary lapse can cost you three points. It’s truly disheartening,” lamented Coach Ibrahim Tanko.
Accra Lions’ next challenge in the Ghana Premier League will see them facing off against Great Olympic in Round 5.
