A 36 year old job seeker, Foster Nyarko has been convicted by an Accra High Court for stealing a mobile phone at the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) headquarters in Accra.
The accused is said to have entered the Office of a Principal Administrator at CHRAJ and stole her Samsung Galaxy A54 phone estimated at GHC 4,999.
The accused is also reported to have committed the same offence at the Ghana College of Physicians and surgeons.
He was apprehended on January 30, 2025 with the help of CCTV footage that exposed him.
The lead prosecutor, Chief inspector Daniel Ofori Appiah told the court that the convict is unemployed and from Effiakuma in the Western Region.
The convict went to the front desk at CHRAJ on October 23, 2024 claiming to be following up on his application at the Human Resources Department.
The convict reportedly entered the Principal Administrator’s office on the first floor, room number 15 and stole her phone.
The principal administrator Celis- Jane Nyarko reported the case to the Ministries Police Station in Accra on October 23, 2025.
The prosecutor added that, the convict was apprehended by Management of Ghana College of Physicians and surgeons on January 30, 2025 when he committed a similar crime.
The CCTV footage presented to the Ministries Police as evidence by the complainant confirmed the convict’s involvement in the crime.
The convict admitted to his crimes of entering the office of the administrator and stealing her phone.
The Court presided over by Basilia Adjei Tawia convicted Foster Nyarko on his own plea when he was charged with unlawful entry and stealing.
The Judge however deferred sentencing to February 27, 2025.
