Absence of Speed ramps at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital: Workers threaten strike action

GHA Senior Staff to strike again indefinitely from December 2, 2024

Health professionals at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital have threatened to strike over the absence of speed ramps at the entrance of the hospital.

According to them, the unavailability of speed ramps at the entrance of the hospital has led to several accidents and has recently claimed the life of a staff nurse.

‘’We are rather being taken and our lives are being vandalized by motorbikes on this stretch, all attempts to get the road authority to put up ramps have proved futile’’.

Speaking to the media, the agitated staff stated that, they have written letters severally to the municipal authorities, the ministry of roads and highways since 2020 yet nothing has been done about it.

‘’We have written several letters to authorities over this issue since 2020 yet no response’’.

The staff issued a one week ultimatum to government to construct speed ramps at the entrance of the hospital to enhance the safety of both staff and patients.

‘’This year alone we have lost seven people including staff’’.

This demand follows the death of a staff nurse who was hit by a speeding vehicle.

‘’we are going to lay down our tools if government does not do anything and we are giving them one week or we lay down our tools’’.
