The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has submitted a Right to Information (RTI) application to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) seeking details on Rock City’s Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Tax Clearance Certificate.
Mr. Ablakwa claims that Rock City Hotel, owned by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong did not file its tax returns for 2021 and 2022 when it participated in the bid to acquire a 60% stake in four SSNIT-owned hotels.
He said this violates the Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896), as well as SSNIT’s Pre-Qualification Criteria.
The MP stressed that these breaches should have led to Rock City’s immediate disqualification.
He also requested the complete evaluation report and full minutes of all tender committee meetings related to the sale.
Mr. Ablakwa in his RTI request to SSNIT dated June 24, 2024, highlighted the need for transparency and accountability, urging SSNIT to respond promptly to his demands.
