Takoradi Y97.9 FM, one of the favorite radio station’s that forms part of the three triangles of YFM urban radio, has celebrated Ghanaian excellence during the 63rd birthday of Ghana by introducing the maiden edition of its independence day programme dubbed ‘1957 Invasion’.
The event which took place at the Malibu Pub in Takoradi brought together Ghanaians who were proud to celebrate excellence in their individual lives and their impact to the country as Ghanaians.
The night-time atmosphere was dense with a merry crowd clad in African attire who were moved along in excitement as MCs PM,Bushke and TJDJ set the groove for the night.
The best DJs from the west, DJ Edita, DJ Gunshot and DJ Suraka served patrons with the very best of a mix of old school music and contemporary Ghanaian music.
Programmes Manager for YFM Takoradi, Agyekum Akwasi Gyimah in speaking about the motive behind this exciting event stated: “Most of the time, our Independence Day celebration as a country focuses only on what our forefathers have done and what our leaders have done collectively. But we must also take note that the contribution of individual Ghanaians have carried on the legacy of our forefathers and that also needs to be celebrated.
At YFM, we are synonymous with celebration and partying. That is why we have brought the ‘1957 invasion’ to celebrate growth and excellence in an electrifying way”.
He further disclosed that the first edition was not going to be the last of its kind. “The station is set to bring to Ghanaians more episodes of the ‘1957 invasion in subsequent celebrations of our Independence Day”, he added.
