Former Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah has thanked the President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghanaians for the opportunity given him to coach the national team.
Appiah was relieved off his post following a decision by the Ghana Football Association to dissolve the technical teams of the various national teams.
Appiah’s contract had also expired after on 31 December 2019 hence the decision to dissolve all the technical teams of the various national teams meant his contract will not be renewed.
In a statement released by Kwesi Appiah to thank the public for the opportunity to coach the Black Stars, read “I thank the President H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve the nation,” Kwesi Appiah said in a statement released on Sunday night.
“I also express my appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Ghana Football Association for their support,” he stated.
Appiah was coach of Ghana from 2012-14. He lost his job to former Chelsea manager Avram Grant but was re-hired in 2017.
