The Senior Staff Chairman of Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Dominic Annan has disclosed that the current power outages experienced by the country is not the fault of GRIDCo.
Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he stated: “the power outages are localized faults within the distribution networks. As far as we are concerned, there has not been any dire outage from GRIDCO that would affect the entire country”.
According to him the only recent disturbance that was related with GRIDCo was as a “result of the tie line serving between Ghana and Ivory Coast which went out automatically and affected some thermal generators, shaking the system for a while”.
He added that since the indebtedness of power transmitters such as ECG, VALCO and NeDCo still affect the operations of GRIDCO, they will continue with their sit down strike.
Leadership of GRIDCo staff on Tuesday announced an indefinite strike to push government and other institutions to pay their debt to the power transmission company which is running into 1.2 billion Cedis.
