The Welfare Officer of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Benjamin Yeboah has said that indifference on the part of authorities to settle the ongoing trade impasse between GUTA and foreign nationals has compelled GUTA to close down shops of foreign nationals.
He was speaking on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show with Kwame Afrifa Mensah when he said: we spoke to authorities from the Ministry of Trade and Industries and other key players. However, it’s been four months after that and nothing has happened. All we have been receiving are excuses upon excuses”.
According to him, GUTA’s plea on the retail trade has been ongoing for twenty years without any appreciable support from Government.
The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) yesterday closed down the retail shops of Nigerians and other foreign nationals at Circle in Accra.
