The Progressive Road Contractors Association of Ghana is bemoaning the slow pace at which the government is paying road contractors.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, Vice President of the Progressive Road Contractors Association of Ghana, Hammond Larbi claimed contractors of the association have mounted immense pressure on leadership to get them outstanding debts owed them by government.
“Things are not really going our way. Now we have 40% of our people awaiting payment and they are giving us immense pressure.”
Hammond Larbi appealed to the government to be quick in completing payment of all outstanding debts to road contractors.
The government last month secured an amount of GHs 2.2 billion to pay part of arrears owed road contractors and has since then fully settled all payment certificates of value Ghs 500,000 and below.
