Twenty-two players reported at the St. Thomas Aquinas SHS park as the Black Stars converged to hold their first training session ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed to be staged in Gabon next month.
Several new faces including Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Nuru Sulley, Ebenezer Ofori, Raphael Dwamena, Godsway Donyoh, Bernard Terkpertey and Latif Blessing were present for the training session.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has had some good games for FC Liefering in Austria and was the number goalie for the Ghana U-20 side that played in the 2015 World Youth Championship. Former New Edubiase play-maker Ebenezer Ofori is now with AIK Solna in Sweden while Raphael Dwamena is with Lustenau in Austria. Godsway Donyoh plays for Swedish side FC Nordsjaelland as Bernard Terkpertey is enjoying his football at Schalke 04. Former Hearts of towering defender Nuru Sulley currently plays for Turkish side Alanyaspor.
The team is expected to leave Ghana for Dubai on the 2nd of January where they will play a couple of friendly games with some African sides.
