The Deputy Secretary-General of the Pan-African Youth Union (PAYU), Mr.Ahmed Bening has stated the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s setting up a Commission of Enquiry on the Ayawaso-West Wuogon by-elections violence is acknowledgement of a blunder.
He made this known on Happy FM’s ‘Epahoa Daben’ show with Nana Afrifa Mensah: “For the president to set up a commission to look into the happenings at Ayawaso West Wuogon elections, he acknowledges that things went wrong” he said.
Mr.Ahmed however advised that if the recommendations of the commission were ignored, the events surrounding the elections will recur.
“The report of the Commission should not be thrown into the shelves. If that were to occur, it would only mean that what happened at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections will repeat itself” he said.
The Justice Emile Short Commission was set up in February this year following the violence that marred the by-elections of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections.
