Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa on Wednesday met former President John Mahama to discuss election-related issues.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Dr Eric Bossman Asare and member of the Commission, Adwoa Asuma Abrefi.
Mahama made the request when top officials of the Commission including the Chairperson, Jean Mensa paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday.
“There are issues arising from the last election that we will want to put on board so that you can look at it and see how we can enhance the process so that all of us will feel that the process has integrity and we are confident that we are all being treated fairly. So that whoever wins and losses will readily accept that this was a free expression of the will of the people,” John Mahama stressed.
The party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who was also at the meeting assured the EC of the NDC’s support saying that the party is ready to collaborate with the Commission to make the upcoming general elections a success.
This is just to assure you that the NDC as a party will continue to play that pivotal role to ensure that our electoral processes are enhanced, to help you succeed because if the EC succeeds, Ghana has succeeded, and all of us have succeeded,” Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said.
