Deputy Accra Representative and Management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Nana Kwame Dankwa has debunked media report that they have fired their head coach CK Akonnor, weeks after leading them to secure CAF Champions League qualification.
Speaking on ‘Wamputu Sports’ with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy FM Nana Kwame Dankwa admitted that there was a meeting between management and the coach but he was not asked step aside.
“CK Akonnor has not been sacked as the head coach of Kotoko. Kotoko and CK Akonnor have not terminated their contracts. Yes there was a meeting yesterday between him and Kotoko pattering to the Africa that we are going. So if we have taken decision at management meeting and you are not happy,he knowns the right channel to follow to address his grievances. No one has terminate his contracts.”
The former Black Stars captain is reported to have told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM he is no more the head coach of Kotoko. “I have been asked to step aside but to take over as technical director.”
