The Canadian government has issued alert to its citizens in Ghana to step up their security in the wake of Tuesday’s kidnapping of two of its nationals in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
On Tuesday two Canadian women were kidnapped at Ahodwo in Kumasi The women, one of whose name has been given as Lauren, were forced into a vehicle just when they stepped out of their apartment at Silver Spring Avenue.
The Canadian government on Thursday, June 6 issued a “violent crimes” alert for Ghana, stating armed robbery and kidnapping may occur.
“Be aware of your surroundings and avoid walking alone or displaying signs of wealth. Ensure that windows and doors in your residence are secured,” the Canadian government tweeted on June 5.
