Head coach of Asante Kotoko Charles Akunnor has disclosed that they are planning to deploy a special training for troubled striker Sogne Yacouba to rediscover his scoring boots.
Yacouba is currently on a goal drought after failing to find the back of the net in seven competitive games for the Porcupine Warriors.
The Burkinabe import missed lots of chances in Wednesday’s CAF Confederation Cup game against ZESCO United despite registering two assists on match day – having registered five assists in the Confederation Cup campaign.
The 26-year-old’s recent form has been remarkable concerning his creativity in the final third of the pitch but lack of goals seems to be putting him under intense pressure.
But during an interview with Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, coach Akunnor has revealed that he and the other technical team members are planing to map out a special scoring training for the striker to start firing in the goals again.
“Sogne Yacouba has given us a lot and continuously providing assists for the team. We are going to have a special training for him because he is one player we seriously need in the team. We will make him comeback stronger with his goal scoring abilities,” Akunnor told Happy FM.
Kotoko will hope the special training will yield quickly when they travel to Zambia to engage Nkana FC on matchday three of the competition, which is scheduled to come off on Sunday, February 24.
