I have never received bribe – Alban Bagbin

In a radio interview on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, Member of Parliament for Nadowli Kaleo in the Upper West Region and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin revealed that irrespective of the political system in Ghana being extremely corrupt, he has never received nor given bribe.

According to him, the way he presents himself scares away people who want to influence him as a public office holder.

“I have never received bribe. Never! I rather give to society to make it a better place to live. Throughout my life, I have never received bribe and nobody has tried to bribe me because the way I present myself, you can’t even approach to bribe.”

He added that as a minister, he was dealing with technocrats not private individuals who will lure him into corrupt acts. “I can vouch hundred percent that I’m clean”, he proceeded.

It will be recalled that Hon. S.K. Bagbin alleged that some MPs take bribes to articulate the views of some individuals and organisations on the floor of Parliament.

He said evidence to that effect existed and added that the practice had persisted because of the lack of laid-down rules and ethics on lobbying in the country.

Alban Bagbin is hopeful of leading the National Democratic Congress into the 2020 general election. So far, seven aspirants have filed their nominations to contest the primaries including former President John Mahama, who is viewed as the front runner.
