Former Executives of the University of Ghana, Legon Chapter of the Tertiary Education Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON), have called on the delegates of the Party at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency where Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko served as Member of Parliament until his demise to massively support the widow of late MP Madam Lydia Alhassan Agyarko, as the Party’s candidate in the upcoming primaries.
TESCON in a press release signed by its Former Vice President Osei Kuffour said, we have taken notice of the Electoral Commission’s decision to run a by-election in accordance with law on 31st January, 2019 to find a replacement for the late Member of Parliament.
“We are also aware of the intentions of some members of our party who wish to be elected as Parliamentary Candidates of the NPP in the said by-election and subsequently be elected to the Parliament of Ghana. Whiles we acknowledge the contributions of the interested persons in diverse ways, we find Lydia Seyram Alhassan as exceptional. Whiles serving as Executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of NPP (TESCON), University of Ghana chapter, we realized that Lydia was ready to help address some challenges that we had in the discharge of our duties.”
The added that “We humbly appeal to the delegates to reaffirm their belief in the woman. We want them to prove once again, their appreciation of the love Lydia has shown to us all in the past and vote massively for her in the primaries scheduled Saturday 29th December, 2018.”

PRESS RELEASE
FORMER TESCON-UG EXECUTIVES APPEAL TO DELEGATES TO ELECT LYDIA
SEYRAM ALHASSAN AS THE NPP’S CANDIDATE FOR THE AYAWASO WEST WUOGON CONSTITUENCY BYELECTIONS
We would want to use this opportunity to express our condolences to the family of Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko and the New Patriotic Party fraternity especially in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency where Hon. Agyarko served as Member of Parliament. We pray to his Maker to give him peace as he rests eternally.
We have taken notice of the Electoral Commission’s decision to run a by-election in accordance with law on 31st January, 2019 to find a replacement for the late Member of Parliament. We are also aware of the intentions of some members of our party who wish to be elected as Parliamentary Candidates of the NPP in the said by-election and subsequently be elected to the Parliament of Ghana. Whiles we acknowledge the contributions of the interested persons in diverse ways, we find Lydia Seyram Alhassan as exceptional. Whiles serving as Executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of NPP (TESCON), University of Ghana chapter, we realized that Lydia was ready to help address some challenges that we had in the discharge of our duties. She was ready to listen to us whenever we were in need. This generosity she genuinely extended to even NDC members; provoked them to vote against their own parliamentary candidate in the 2012 general elections and further reaffirmed their love for Hon. Agyarko with a margin of ten thousand votes in the 2016 elections. We saw Lydia working very closely with the MP and constituency executives from day of voter registration, through room-to-room campaigns, TESCON meetings and elections day operations till victory is declared. She always make us feel at home whenever we visited the MP.
We are therefore not surprised that many Polling Station Executives in the constituency who appreciate her immense role in the constituency have prayed on her to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries and be elected as the next MP. Her background as a former student of the two noble tertiary institutions in the constituency, the University of Ghana and GIMPA connects her to the opportunities and challenges in these two institutions which have always been the deciding electoral area for the victory of the NPP in Ayawaso West Wuogon. As a successful Pharmaceutical Marketer and a Member of the Party’s Finance Committees in Greater and Volta regions, we believe she would be able to mobilize resources to take the constituency to the next level.
We humbly appeal to the delegates to reaffirm their belief in the woman. We want them to prove once again, their appreciation of the love Lydia has shown to us all in the past and vote massively for her in the primaries scheduled Saturday 29th December, 2018. We believe, she is the best candidate whose respectful nature and hardwork would help increase the votes we had in the 2016 general elections to have a mandate to continue the good works of Hon Isaac Amoh, Hon. Akosua Fremah Opare (now Chief of Staff) and the late Hon. Emmanuel Kyeramanteng Agyarko in the past. The victory of the NPP in the by-elections would be a testimony of the good governance we are enjoying as people of the Republic of Ghana under H.E. President Akufo Addo and must be treated with all the attention it deserves.
We wish everyone a happy yuletide.
Faithfully yours,
Osei Kuffour
